Frombork is located in the north - western part of the Warmia, in the district Braniewski. It is located on the Vistula Lagoon..

The city was founded around the year 1277. Archaeological research has not confirmed the existence of an earlier settlement here. Frombork originally was owned by the bishops of Warmia, since 1320 it belonged to the Chapter. Was then called Civitas Warmiensis (city Warmia). So it was, in fact, because it was the capital of Warmia. The first documented date granting municipal rights is the year 1310.

At this place, the great Polish scientist spent 33 years of his life here created his greatest work "On the Revolutions of Celestial Spheres" (De Revolutionibus), previous work has changed the idea of the universe, here too he was buried.

Frombork a real gem is considered to be the highest grade of zero wealth building an architectural complex of the Cathedral Hill, which includes, among others, the medieval Gothic cathedral - Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Andrew the Apostle, former bishop's palace, bell tower known as Radziejowski Tower, Copernicus Tower, walls and defensive towers. Frombork should also see the hospital of St. Spirit, the Water Tower and  astronomical observatory. One of the biggest attractions every year in summer is the International Festival of Organ Music. Organ concerts are performed by virtuosos from the country and abroad, are held every Sunday from late June to late August each year.

Frombork is also located the yacht harbor, where tourists can moor without problems for a long time, it is also sea border crossing for yachts flowing on to Kalingrad.
