Iława lies on the Lake District Iławskie, the southern tip of the longest Polish lake - Jeziorak. The city is the administrative borders of the United Żuława - the largest island in the Jeziorak by area of approx. 82 ha. On it there are several resorts, the remains of an old Prussian castle. Lakeland Iławskie in terms of nature is one of the most interesting ch areas in our country, in addition to the terrain are distinguished by a variety of fauna and flora - created here Iława Lake District Landscape Park, which includes the entire lake Jeziorak and lake Clear, with transparency of water of up to 15 meters. He lives here many species of waterfowl, among other things herons, cormorants, cranes, there are also white-tailed eagles, ospreys and red kites.

 City Iława Teutonic Commander founded at the beginning of the fourteenth century, in the middle ages lived here on average about 500 residents who were engaged in crafts and trade. Very well in Iława City prospered brewing, each citizen had the right to produce and sell this popular drink, well developed fishing - demand for fish in the State of the Teutonic Knights was very large, especially during the posts. After the signig of the peace in Toruń in 1466 the city became part of Prussia Religious, later Princes. Also systematically increased the number of inhabitants Iława. In 1795 Iława already had about 1,200 residents. The dynamic development of the city is associated with the beginning of the nineteenth century, the construction of Elblag Canal, military barracks, and the railroad led to an increase in the number of residents to nearly 10 thousand. Iława became not only an important transportation hub but also a thriving industrial center – machine factory at work here, roofing papa factory, soaps factory, sawmill factory, iron foundry, vinegar factory and breweries, also began to develop tourism. After the end of World War II, in 1945, Iława city was incorporated into Polish.

In the city, you can make up your historical knowledge, we see the early medieval settlement on the island of Great Żuława, the Gothic Church of the Transfiguration of the fragments of the city walls, the oldest in the region of a water mill on the river Iławka historic water tower, neo-baroque town hall and the train station.
