Zulawy Loop and the Elblag Canal » Stare Jablonki

The village is situated on the lake district Iławskie, on the lake “Szeląg Mały”, 11 km from Ostroda. Here begins the Elblag Canal waterway (the farthest branch), hence we will arrive in Elblag, Kalingrad or through international waterway E70 to Antwerp and Amsterdam.

The oldest known mention of Stare Jablonki come from a document from 1584 years. In the 30s of the twentieth century from the surrounding pine forests were highly prized in the German aerospace industry, and work on their felling was for many people in nearby towns main source of livelihood. Tree with Stare Jabłonki were called "pine carriers". At the moment, the whole complex is a forest nature reserve "Sosny Taborskie".

In the village is located the nineteenth century villa which has been converted into a hotel. The Hotel Anders is held every year two events:  World Cup Beach Volleyball, Regional Fish Feast - outdoor event where you can treat yourself to fish, go fishing and listen to good music. Stare Jabłonki is also a historic building renovated railway station with clock and unique wooden waiting room on one of the platforms.

Szeląg Wielki lake is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the Warmia and Mazury, famous for its clean and cool water, precious fish live here: vendace, lavaret, eel. On the left bank of the lake there are many resorts where you can easily find a place at the pier mooring for your boat.
